Dietrich Grönemeyer

Professor Dietrich Grönemeyer, M.D., is a physician and one of the developers of microtherapy.

He was born in Clausthal-Zellerfeld in 1952, and he grew up in Bochum. His youngest brother, Herbert Grönemeyer, is a well-known pop musician and actor; his older brother, Wilhelm, was an artist and galley owner.

After he studied sinology and Romance languages and literature in Bochum and medicine in Kiel, Grönemeyer passed his exams in medicine in 1978; he received his doctorate in medicine in 1982. In 1990 he received his habilitation from the University of Witten/Herdecke.

He is the director of the „Grönemeyer Institute for Microtherapy“ in Bochum, and is professor of radiology and microtherapy at the University of Witten/Herdecke. In addition, he is a guest professor at the Harvard Medical School in Boston, at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and at the Steinbeis-Hochschule in Berlin. Dietrich Grönemeyer is considered to be one of the most innovative scientists in Europe. He developed micro-invasive treatment methods at his Institute for Radiology and Microtherapy at the University of Witten/Herdecke; these methods are used in the diagnosis and therapy of diseases of the locomotory system, the blood vessels, and also cancer. He combines these „high-tech“ methods with naturopathic „low-tech“ methods (acupuncture and other methods).

According to Dr. Grönemeyer, „compassionate medicine“ is the determining factor in his life.
