Nicole Reist

Nicole Reist, born in 1984, is a qualified technician in HF structural engineering with a 100% workload. Her hobbies are biking, cycling and cycling. So passionate that she likes to ride several hundred kilometers, even over 1’000, non-stop in the saddle. She rides the special discipline of ultracycling. These are long distance races of 1’000 kilometers and more. She is the most successful athlete worldwide.

As a child and teenager Nicole competed in tennis and floorball for many years. Later, out of fun, mountain biking was added before the fascination for the racing bike arose. In 2004 she completed her apprenticeship as a structural engineer. In 2005, she began regular systematic road bike training in preparation for her first ultra race. During her first participation in the 24-hour cycle race in Schötz, she realized that her performance limit had not yet been reached. In 2007 Nicole Reist participated in the Glocknerman Ultramarathon World Championship, with a distance of 820 kilometers. And here, too, she felt that there is more to it than that. In 2009 she started her first TORTOUR, an ultracycling race over 1000 kilometers. In 2011 she graduated as a structural engineering draftswoman HF and has been working 100% in an architectural office ever since. Since 2012 she has won at least one victory each year at a major ultracycling race.

Since 2012 Nicole Reist has been unbeaten and has won at least one victory in a major ultracycling race every year. In 2016 & 2018 she won the longest and hardest non-stop race in the world – the Race Across America. 5’000 kilometers and 52’000 meters altitude difference in 9 days 23 hours 57 minutes which is also a track record. In these almost 10 days she slept 9 hours and spent the rest on the bike.

In 2020 Nicole Reist made history and left all men behind in the Italian non-stop cycling race Adriatic Cycling Marathon. In 43 hours and 54 minutes she covered 1200 kilometers and 7’000 meters of altitude. She was the first woman to win an overall victory in an ultracycling race. She is currently the best ultra cyclist in the world.
